- IcyVert burst onto the NASCAR scene throughout this week. He made one NASCAR-related Tweet that blew up, and he has since been farming for follows all throughout the NASCAR world.
- IcyVert does not normally touch the subject of NASCAR. He normally discusses other sports, but, this is new territory for him.
- Fans are mixed in their reaction to him. Some are happy to see someone else on social media taking an interest in NASCAR, and others are skeptical that IcyVert will even mention NASCAR after he goes to one race.
Who Is IcyVert?
IcyVert is a YouTuber who works for Stark Raving Sports. His videos to this point have been primarily related to baseball. His most recent video came out earlier in February entitled, “What 6 Hours of 0-0 Baseball Does to You”.
He’s relatively new to Stark Raving Sports, as his first video came out in June of 2023. There has not been an inkling of NASCAR content he has uploaded to the channel. He also runs the social media account for Real Sports according to his bio.
On social media, IcyVert is by far the most active on X, but he does have Instagram and TikTok as well. While he covers multiple sports teams, he is a big Philadelphia sports fan.
Why is He Going Viral?
IcyVert was one of many who was in awe of the finish at Atlanta Motor Speedway last weekend and noticed the resemblance to the movie Cars. His Tweet with the caption, “I got chills tbh” blew up with over 130,000 likes, and even Sports Center‘s official Instagram account picked up the meme.
From there, IcyVert took full advantage of his NASCAR tweet going viral. He declared his favorite driver, Carson Hocevar. Hocevar later messaged IcyVert, and forwarded an invite from the President of NASCAR to go to a race of his choosing.
He also spent time farming for followers from plenty within the NASCAR industry. This included drivers like Kyle Busch, race teams like Stewart-Haas Racing, and race tracks like Daytona and Charlotte. NASCAR’s official Twitter account even interacted with a Tweet that IcyVert made.
Expect to see IcyVert at a NASCAR race sometime in the near future. His Tweet surrounding NASCAR blew up, and it seems that NASCAR is trying to capitalize on the promotion they are getting through this Tweet.
The question is, will IcyVert become a full-fledged fan as a result of this, or will he drop NASCAR once everything dies down? That remains to be seen.
