What’s Happening?

Dale Earnhardt Jr. whipped social media into a frenzy on Thursday by posting a strange photo. Two blank Generation-4 NASCAR Cup Series cars are featured in a digital format. Fans were unsure what this was for, but, some later teasers showcased what might be behind this tweet.

  • Dale Earnahrdt Jr. is quite involved with iRacing. That combined with replies to the tweet makes many assume that this is iRacing-related.
  • What exactly it means remains a bit of a mystery. What could iRacing and Dale Earnhardt Jr. have up their sleeve?
  • Fans were quite intrigued by this. Many were fans of NASCAR during this era, and they hope to see this implemented in a good way.

Everything Dale Jr. Had to Say

Dale Earnhardt Jr. replied to his original tweet by showing which car models these were. He showed a picture of Matt Kenseth celebrating his 2003 NASCAR Winston Cup Series Championship alongside a picture of Kevin Harvick winning the 2003 Brickyard 400.

Earnhardt Jr. later confirmed these two cars were the ones he was making the models for. He also showed the two cars on display.

What Does All of This Mean?

It appears Dale Earnhardt Jr. is taking part in some sort of a 2003 car model for iRacing. This is further evidenced by a reply that iRacing made with this meme.

2003 was a big year for NASCAR, and it was the end of an era. It was the last year Winston was the title sponsor, and it was also the last year of the old-school Winston Cup points format. A format that many fans still love to this day.

Generation 4 cars are currently in iRacng, but, they’re modeled after ARCA Menards Series cars, and they are also locked behind fixed setups. Jared Carr, for example, hopes to see these cars not locked behind fixed setups.

No one really knows exactly what this is for yet, but, it’s pretty cool to see. However, some noticed that two manufacturer bodies were missing from this render, Pontiac and Dodge. Neither manufacturer is in NASCAR today, while Ford and Chevrolet are both in NASCAR today.

There was even some speculation about these cars ending up in iRacing’s NASCAR 25 console game with some sort of “Classic Cars” feature similar to Formula One video games. Could it happen?

Regardless, fans are quite happy to see this, and they are very excited. Many took to social media to express their excitement. Such as Cody Llamas.

iRacing Aussie claims that we could see these cars sometime during the next build. Could they come that soon?

It’s going to be interesting to see how this render plays into iRacing at some point in the future. Could we see true 2003 Cup Series cars in iRacing?
