So, using industry trends and historical references, what could a realistic release date for NASCAR ’25 look like?

There is no exact answer as to what specific day video games are released. There is a flurry of reasons related to marketing ties in outside events, such as major holidays, anniversaries, or, in the case of sports games, the start of the season.
However, there are some select weekdays that you will typically see video games released; these include Thursday, Friday, and, most importantly, Tuesdays.
Before diving into the history of NASCAR video game release dates, we will look at recent sports and racing game release dates, as it has been some time since a NASCAR console game was released.
At first glance, these obviously do not correlate with the true release date for NASCAR ’25. However, these dates show an important trend; these games are released prior to, or in the build-up to, the start of each league’s season.
However, NASCAR and licensed racing games do not typically follow this trend, and we know for a fact that NASCAR ’25 will be released this fall. Perhaps another major NASCAR event, such as the start of the playoffs could be that anchor date for the games release.
But what about other licensed racing games? When will they be released?
The most noteworthy piece from this list is that iRacing, publisher of NASCAR ’25, also published the World of Outlaws game. They announced the release date for that game on May 2.

The recent history of NASCAR console games is spotty, as several publishers have taken on NASCAR’s license. Furthermore, a multi-platform NASCAR game has not been released since NASCAR 21: Ignition in 2021. So, for our sample, we will use the last ten simulation-based NASCAR console games that had a multi-platform release.
The most consistent release streak in this data set is the NASCAR HEAT Series, which had a three-year streak of Friday releases; however, another notable streak is found in four of six games released in the fall. All four games, starting with NASCAR Heat Evolution and ending with NASCAR Heat 4, were released in September.
These four September releases all had one thing in common as well: they were released on the first or second week of September. At the time, this week typically was the week prior to or the week of the first NASCAR Cup Series Playoff race.
If this were to happen with NASCAR ’25, this week would either be the week of the regular season finale, the Coke Zero Sugar 400 at Daytona (August 23), or the first race of the playoffs, the Southern 500 at Darlington (August 31). While we can speculate, as the game’s release draws closer, we will slowly receive more and more information (and perhaps an official release date) for NASCAR ’25.
