What’s Happening?
An ominous weather forecast for Daytona has forced NASCAR to reshuffle the busy Saturday schedule. The NASCAR Xfinity Series race has been postponed to 11:00 am ET on Monday afternoon.
- The weather forecast has been a hot topic of discussion all throughout Speedweeks. Weather for Saturday and Sunday has looked iffy at best, and NASCAR is trying to make the decision early. However, the Daytona 500 is still on for Sunday afternoon as scheduled, for now.
- NASCAR has generally tried to make weather decisions earlier and earlier in recent years. Cup Series races at New Hampshire and Dover were both postponed the morning of the original race date, and the Clash at the LA Coliseum was pushed up an entire day. This is primarily done to avoid long rain delays for fans and teams at the race track.
- Fans are bummed about this announcement, but, they are happy that NASCAR acted quickly. There is nothing more frustrating than a rain delay.
