What’s Happening?

While Friday’s Truck Series race endured a brief red flag for misting, NASCAR’s real battle with the weather in Daytona is just beginning. NASCAR announced this afternoon that the Green Flag for tonight’s Xfinity Race has been moved to 4:30 pm EST, a jump from the originally scheduled time of 7:30 pm EST.

  • The weather forecast for this weekend has not looked promising all week, with Sunday’s forecast showing an almost 100% chance of rain during some times that racing is scheduled. The weather forecast for Monday shows much less chance of interference and is thus currently considered the likely alternative should any races be forced to delay this weekend.
  • No word has been given on any further schedule changes beyond this Xfinity start time, but we will continue to monitor and update readers here as the situation progresses.
  • Fans have been eagerly following the forecast updates throughout the week, as Daytona is known for its unpredictable heavy rains.
