What’s Happening?

Only two NASCAR National Series head to Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez this weekend for an action-packed double-header weekend. Whether you are at the track or home, what does the forecast look like for this weekend in Mexico City, Mexico?

  • Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez is now the second Formula One circuit to join the NASCAR Cup Series schedule. But, unlike their open-wheel friends, NASCAR is racing on a 14-turn, 2.417-mile layout rather than the 2.674-mile, 17-turn Grand Prix Circuit used by F1.
  • Much like WWT Raceway and Nashville Superspeedway, both tracks added since NASCAR revamped the Cup Series Schedule in 2021, the Xfinity Series graced Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez before the Cup Series. In fact, this will be the Cup Series’ first international points race since the 1958 race at Toronto’s Canadian Exposition Stadium, won by Lee Petty.
  • Though there is no sample size for weather and NASCAR in Mexico City, since the Cup Series Schedule’s 2021 shake-up, debut events at road courses have often seen major rain showers. Take Circuit of the Americas in 2021 and the Chicago Street Circuit in 2023, for example. The only question is, will Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez be the next venue on that list?
