What’s Happening?

NASCAR heads to the First State this weekend for their annual visit to Dover Motor Speedway in Dover, Deleware. Mother nature has dealt a bad hand the past two seasons to the 1.0-mile track, with each of those races being postponed to Monday due to rain. Will rain dampen the weekend at Dover once again?

  • Dover Motor Speedway was opened in 1969, and it has hosted at least one NASCAR Cup Series race every year since. From 1971 until 2020, the track hosted two Cup Series races per year, one in late spring and another in early fall.
  • Dover has dealt with weather issues in 3 of the past 5 seasons. Races in the spring of 2019, 2022, and 2023 were all postponed a day due to rain. 2019 was Dover’s first postponement since June of 2007 when Martin Truex Jr. won his first career race.
  • Fans are always apprehensive about rain during the springtime. However, NASCAR has gotten lucky with the weather this year, and the hope is the streak continues this weekend.
