What’s Happening?

Anthony Alfredo will race for Viking Motorsports in 2026, with the team set to expand to two full-time efforts for the coming NASCAR O’Reilly Auto Parts Series season.

Viking Motorsports made its debut in the then-NASCAR Xfinity Series last season with full-time driver Matt Dibenedetto; however, the late-season departure of Dibenedetto hinted that change was on the way for 2026.

Indeed, change is here for Viking, with Alfredo set to drive a second full-time car for the team, the No. 97, alongside its returning No. 99 with new driver Parker Retzlaff, who is departing Alpha Prime Racing.

In 2025, Alfredo tallied a 24.1 average finish and one top-ten finish racing with Young’s Motorsports. This was a decrease in his overall performance from his breakout 2024 season, in which Alfredo scored two top-fives and seven top-tens.

Last season, however, was his first with Young’s following his departure from the now-defunct Our Motorsports, which shut its doors midseason following a tumultuous start to 2025.

Alfredo’s shift to Viking also marks the fourth team that the 26-year-old driver has raced for since his full-time debut in the NASCAR OAP Series in 2022.

Alongside the introduction of Retzlaff, their new expansion car, and Alfredo, Viking has also announced an expanded technical alliance with Richard Childress Racing.

Now the attention turns to Young’s, who is also expanding to two full-time entries in 2026, having announced that former DGM Racing driver Ryan Ellis will drive their new No. 02 full-time in 2026, with plans for Alredo’s former ride, the No. 42, yet to be announced.
