RFK Racing driver Chris Buescher has signed a new “multiyear extension” to stay in the No. 17 car, the team announced Tuesday morning.
The deal will keep Buescher, a former NASCAR O’Reilly Auto Parts Series Champion, with the team for at least the next few seasons, though the fine details of the deal are currently unknown.
Buescher began his NASCAR National Series career with the team in 2011 and has since turned into their most consistent driver of the 2020s.
His record with the team includes five wins, the most of any driver currently at RFK, and a consistent spot as one of Ford and RFK’s top running drivers in points.
While it never really seemed like Buescher could leave the team this offseason, that didn’t stop speculation and, as of the past few weeks, growing rumors that other teams wanted Buescher for their 2027 lineups.
One of the more prominent rumors was that a top Ford and Toyota team was interested in the Texas native. RFK poked fun at that rumor, which stemmed from a live episode of the Door Bumper Clear podcast, during their video announcing Buescher’s new contract.
His signing is also the first piece of a broader puzzle this offseason for RFK Racing that includes the loss of a leased charter.
