What’s Happening?
NASCAR legend Tony Stewart, now a team owner in the NHRA and winning driver in the NHRA Top Fuel class, seemed uncertain about his drag racing plans for 2026 during a recent interview.
So what is Tony Stewart going to do next year when his wife, Leah Pruett, gets back in her TSR Nitro top fuel car that Stewart has driven as her substitute while they start a family? His answer today (as well as their reaction to my guess that he wasn't replacing the nanny): pic.twitter.com/5SepELuQ8b

- Tony Stewart made the switch to drag racing in 2024 after his wife, Leah Pruett, stepped aside from racing to start their family. Since making the switch, the 54-year-old has exceeded expectations, winning 2024 NHRA Rookie of the Year honors and recently taking home the Top Fuel Division’s Regular Season Championship.
- Tuesday, Tony Stewart Racing announced that Pruett will return to her ride in 2026. When asked about his plans for 2026 by Bob Pockrass of FOX Sports, Stewart, despite his success this season, did not give a direct answer on whether or not he intends to return to Top Fuel in 2026, saying, “I don’t have set plans yet.”
- But, that doesn’t mean the former NASCAR Cup Series champion isn’t trying to put together plans, saying “there’s definitely some things in the works, just nothing that’s 100% solidified yet.” However, he did not rule out not having a ride, saying he is excited for his wife regardless of whether or not “it all falls through” on his end.
- Stewart retired from NASCAR racing after the 2016 season and married Pruett in 2021. He has since exited NASCAR entirely with the closure of the team he co-owned with Gene Haas, Stewart-Haas Racing, last season.
