We are officially in the month of May, which means the Indy 500 is right around the corner. Somehow one of the top teams in INDYCAR doesn’t have a driver for one of its cars. Brake Hard is here to give his prediction on who he thinks will be in the McLaren seat for the Indy 500.
- Seems like the most likely driver for the vacant seat is Callum Ilott, he has experience running from McLaren in INDYCAR before and he’s also tested this year, but it would be short notice. Is there any hope for two NASCAR drivers in the Indy 500?
- An Xfinity Series driver for Sam Hunt racing is a possible answer. Sage Karam has plenty of INDYCAR experience with two top tens in the Indy 500, and since then, his experience on ovals has only grown. Do you think an Xfinity Series driver will get as much media attention as a Cup Series driver for attempting the double?
- There’s also a future Hall of Famer, who was originally scheduled to be in Kyle Larson’s seat this year. I think many people forget that Kyle Bush should have been in this year‘s Indy 500, and fortunately for him there may be a spot open. Will Kyle Bush attempt running such a high-profile race on short notice?
What other drivers do you think could potentially fill the vacant McLaren seat? Could Jimmy Johnson get another shot at it? Let Brake Hard know all of your thoughts and questions in the comment section.
