The coolest thing about a NASCAR race is that you never know what could happen. Some days, the unexpected happens, and other days, something transpires that may never be repeated again. In this video, John Rizzo digs into the things that may never be repeated, and they make up the rarest moments in NASCAR history.

  • 2022 M&Ms Fan Appreciation 400: For the first time since 1960, a driver had a win taken away from them. The top two drivers were disqualified after failing post-race inspection.
  • 2023 Chicago Street Race: SVG took home the win in his first NASCAR Cup Series start. This had never happened in the modern era, and SVG backed it up with a solid run in his second NASCAR race.
  • Clint Bowyer Daytona Flips: Twice in his career, Clint Bowyer flipped in the same spot during the final lap of a race at Daytona. Each scenario was special in its own way.
  • 2014 Talladega: Jamie McMurray set the record for the most Lucky Dogs in a race. Despite his luck, his finish was not quite as incredible as some may think.
  • Fan Interferences: Despite NASCAR’s best efforts, fans have sometimes effected races. From debris on the track to a fan literally sitting on the catch fence.
  • The Closest Finish in NASCAR History: Many think that the 2003 Carolina Dodge Dealers 400 at Darlington was the closest finish in NASCAR history. Well, that is simply not true.
  • The Hail Melon: You all knew it was coming. Ross Chastain’s video game move at Martinsville in 2022 made plenty of headlines, and it probably will never happen again.

Did we miss anything on this list? NASCAR has plenty of moments that are seemingly one in a million. Be sure to subscribe to our YouTube for more Daily Downforce content as the 2024 season inches closer.
