No. 2 – Austin Cindric – Penske Racing

Austin Cindric had a solid 2024, making the 2024 NASCAR Cup Series Playoffs. However, following his stellar time in the NASCAR Xfinity Series, Cindric has yet to live up to the once-high hopes Penske had for him.

No. 3 – Austin Dillon – Richard Childress Racing

Austin Dillon’s rollercoaster saga following his win at Richmond Raceway made a very difficult 2024 for RCR even worse. Dillon will try to rebound in 2025. However, the aging veteran is coming off his worst statistical season since his debut in 2014.

No. 5 – Kyle Larson – Hendrick Motorsports

The risk that Rick Hendrick took in 2021 by signing Kyle Larson after his swift exit from Chip Ganassi Racing has seemingly paid off already. Larson looks like he is heading for a record-breaking career. His 2025 also includes another attempt at the Indianapolis 500.

No. 6 – Brad Keselowski – RFK Racing

Brad Keselowski finally broke through the race winning barrier in 2024, his dramatic win at Darlington was the weight off his and his fans shoulders. No one knows how much longer Brad will race in NASCAR, but for now, we have to appreciate this legend while we still can.

No. 7 – Justin Haley – Spire Motorsports

Justin Haley took a risk this season, and it has seemingly paid off. Following the 2023 season, Haley left his longtime team, Kaulig Racing, and headed to Rick Ware Racing. After overperforming in the RWR No. 51, Spire Motorsports and RWR made a trade, which secured Haley in the No. 7 for the rest of 2024 into 2025.

No. 8 – Kyle Busch – Richard Childress Racing

Kyle Busch is facing his toughest season in the NASCAR Cup Series to date. With fans clamoring for him to leave RCR prior to 2025, next season will be make or break for Busch and RCR. If they can find the success they had in early 2023, the pair might just be able to prove the doubters wrong.

No. 9 – Chase Elliott – Hendrick Motorsports

Chase Elliot broke his long race-losing streak in 2024. Since then, it has felt as if the No. 9 can’t be stopped with consistent finishes throughout the season. With the major steps the team took in 2024, hopefully, 2025 will be all the better.

No. 10 – Ty Dillon – Kaulig Racing

Ty Dillon is back in the NASCAR Cup Series for 2025. After one season away in the NASCAR Truck Series, Dillon returns to the team he ran with part-time in 2025, Kaulig Racing. In bringing Dillon on, Kaulig will renumber the No. 31 to the No. 10 in 2025.

No. 11 – Denny Hamlin – Joe Gibbs Racing

Denny Hamlin started 2024 on a hot streak; however, that streak cooled as fast as it began. While Denny’s season was good overall, hopefully, a more consistent 2025 will bring Hamlin his typical top-shelf results.

No. 12 – Ryan Blaney – Penske Racing

Ryan Blaney took his momentum from his 2023 championship into 2024 winning two races. While not the best season, it was a major step from his early struggles in the 2023 season.

No. 16 – A.J. Allmendinger – Kaulig Racing

After a tough season for Kaulig Racing’s “All-Star” No. 16 car, the team has turned around and brought back A.J. Allmendinger for 2025. Allmendinger, the team’s winningest driver, will surely bring the team success on Road Course and set up its young prospects for the future.

No. 17 – Chris Buescher – RFK Racing

Chris Buescher came literal inches from the 2024 NASCAR Cup Series Playoffs. In what was supposed to be a championship contending 2024, Buescher found himself outside the Playoff window, but breaking through with a Playoff upset win.

No. 20 – Christopher Bell – Joe Gibbs Racing

Christopher Bell has been a solid, consistent driver for Joe Gibbs Racing. With MTJ’s retirement and Denny Hamlin’s age, Bell could soon be the most veteran driver at JGR. However, the question is, can he take that step into a NASCAR superstar many thought he would be?

No. 21 – Josh Berry – Wood Brothers Racing

Josh Berry’s NASCAR Cup Series debut season was a disappointment. The former Late Model standout started with decent momentum. However, after SHR announced its closure, Berry seemed to slide back. Now, at WBR, Berry might be the next driver to take the No. 21 to victory lane.

No. 22 – Joey Logano – Penske Racing

Joey Logano had a very quiet start to 2024. However, late wins boosted his momentum. While some thought he had fallen off, Logano has proved the doubters wrong, but can he carry that into 2025?

No. 23 – Bubba Wallace – 23XI Racing

After months of speculation about whether or not Bubba Wallace would get an extension to his 23XI contract, the team and driver announced a new multi-year deal in September; despite being in a contract year, Wallace had a statistically better 2024. However, making the 2025 playoffs is necessary for Wallace’s long-term success.

No. 24 – William Byron – Hendrick Motorsports

After coming up short in his 2023 NASCAR Cup Series championship pursuit, Byron won the Daytona 500. While not an even trade-off, Byron would like to check a NASCAR Cup Series title off his list in 2025.

No. 38 – Todd Gilliland – Front Row Motorsports

Todd Gilliland took major steps in 2024. However, with the new additions at Front Row Motorsports, Gilliland will have to perform even better in 2025 to ensure his longterm future at FRM.

No. 42 – John Hunter Nemechek – Legacy Motor Club

John Hunter Nemecheck’s first season at LMC started well. However, it seemed to taper off as the season dragged on. Hopefully, both the team and the driver can take that next step in 2025.

No. 43 – Erik Jones – Legacy Motor Club

Erik Jones rejoined the Toyota camp in 2024, with LMC leaving Chevrolet. Team problems aside, Jones faced a brutal injury at the spring Talladega race. However, his season took a turn when LMC granted him an extension in August.

No. 45 – Tyler Reddick – 23XI Racing

23XI Racing stealing Tyler Reddick from Richard Childress Racing in 2022 looks like one of the best moves of the past decade. Reddick seems like a generational talent and earned 23XI its first Regular-Season Championship in 2024. Can they keep it up in 2025?

No. 47 – Ricky Stenhouse Jr. – JTG Daugherty Racing

Ricky Stenhouse Jr. earned a long-term extension at JTG Daugherty following his 2023 Daytona 500 winning season. However, the team’s future might be in doubt following the rumored loss of major sponsor Kroger.

No. 48 – Alex Bowman – Hendrick Motorsports

Alex Bowman had a solid statistical season in 2024. However, he dealt with many rumors about his future at HMS. Hendrick confirmed to Bowman that he would be back in 2025. This drama begs the question, can Alex Bowman use this chip on his shoulder to have an even better year next year?

No. 54 – Ty Gibbs – Joe Gibbs Racing

Ty Gibbs made his NASCAR Cup Series Playoffs Debut in 2024. Still a very young driver, Gibbs looks like he may be the real deal. However, he might need some more time to make it to the front of the pack in NASCAR.

No. 71 – Michael McDowell – Spire Motorsports

Michael McDowell brings Crew Chief Travis Peterson to Spire Motorsports in 2025. The pair has had a decent 2024 at Front Row Motorsports, but McDowell needed a longterm deal, and Spire gave him that. Hopefully, this move will mean big things for the team and driver in 2025.

No. 77 – Carson However – Spire Motorsports

Carson Hocevar had an unexpectedly good 2024. The risk paid off for Spire Motorsports to bring Hocevar up from the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series, but can the revamped lineup at Spire help the young driver take another step in 2025?

No. 88 – Shane Van Gisbergen – Trackhouse Racing
