Watching a NASCAR race is a lot of fun, but watching the commercials during the race can be just as much fun. Which NASCAR commercials are the best of all time?
10. Mobil-1: Tiny Kevin Harvick and Clint Bowyer Rave Dancing
There may not be a commercial that depicts the different personalities of two drivers more than Mobil-1’s dancing rave commercial featuring Clint Bowyer and Kevin Harvick. Or should we say, mini-Kevin Harvick and mini-Clint Bowyer. It’s not the most iconic commercial of all time, but it is another chance for Boywer to show off his funny personality.
9. Mountain Dew: Dale Call
This commercial premiered during the Super Bowl in 2014, and it features a modified duck call that brings a wild Dale Earnahrdt Jr. Diet Mountain Dew car into a field. Not only is it a funny commercial, but it is a cool way to gawk at one of the coolest Mountain Dew-related schemes in NASCAR history. When was the last time a NASCAR driver was featured in a Super Bowl ad that was not a Daytona 500 promo on Fox?
8. Coca-Cola: “Harmony”
Throughout the years, Coca-Cola has had some incredible NASCAR-related commercials. The one included on this list features the iconic “Harmony” song featured on many Coca-Cola commercials, except featuring all Coca-Cola Racing Family drivers. Imagine if this happened in the cars during an actual race, and imagine if Coca-Cola produced this much harmony by just drinking it.
7. Mahindra Tractors: Tony Stewart and Chase Briscoe “Tough and Tougher”
Out of modern commercials, few are as funny as the Mahindra Tractors commercials featuring Chase Briscoe and Tony Stewart. This one features Stewart and Briscoe constantly one-upping each other with tractors, and eventually trophies. Maybe one day Briscoe will be able to compete with Stewart in that sense.
6. NASCAR Ride Along: Richard and Kyle Petty
We go back to 1998 for this commercial featuring a member of NASCAR royalty, Richard Petty, and his son Kyle. In the ESPN “Ride Along” commercial series in the late 1990s, Kyle drives while Richard backseat drives. The two do not exactly see eye-to-eye in this hilarious commercial.
5. Napa: Chase Elliott Merchandise
Chase Elliott was a marketing machine even while he was in the Xfinity Series, but, this commercial takes that to the extreme. A satirization of Elliott and Dale Earnhardt Jr. reviewing different Chase Elliott products. Some of which, or most of which, happily never saw the light of day.
4. Toyota Sponsafier: It’s Denny Time
In the early 2010s, Toyota put together a “Sponsafier” program that allowed fans to design their race cars, and incredible commercials came from that. The one featured today is Denny Hamlin an ideal husband to a woman who designed a car. Who would have thought Denny Hamlin back then would become the Hamlin he is now?
3. Gillette Young Guns: “Wrestling Ring” Featuring John Cena
One of NASCAR’s coolest ad campaigns of the mid-2000s was the Gillette Young Guns. This commercial saw even more star power as John Cena joined to teach NASCAR drivers how to wrestle. Let’s just say that a few drivers have watched WWE before.
2. NASCAR Sprint Cup “Drive to Win”: Clint Bowyer and Matt Kenseth….In Scooters!
In 2013, Matt Kenseth and Clint Bowyer teamed up for the most interesting collaboration in NASCAR commercial history. As a NASCAR Sprint Cup promo commercial, Bowyer and Kenseth raced each other in scooters around a nursing home with a special guest appearance by Miss Sprint Cup, Kim Coon. The only question is, will this happen in the future?
1. Napa Know How: Martin Truex Jr. and Michael Waltrip
Napa was making great commercials even during the Michael Waltrip days, and this one takes the cake. Featuring Martin Truex Jr., the commercial has Michael Waltrip become a performer as they sing the iconic Napa Know-How jingle. The thing that takes the case is the performance of Michael Waltrip.
There are plenty of incredible NASCAR commercials out there that were not included on this list. What are some of your favorite NASCAR commercials of all time?
