Stewart-Haas Racing Reportedly Finds Their No. 4 Car Replacement

What’s Happening?

Jordan Bianchi reports that Kevin Harvick’s replacement is set to be Josh Berry. Bianchi reports that Josh Berry is working on finalizing a contract for the 4 car in 2024. However, no contract has officially been signed yet.

• Josh Berry has run in eight Cup Series races this season in fill-in duty for Alex Bowman and Chase Elliot. Berry had a best finish of second coming at Richmond Raceway in the spring. The 2017 CARS Late Model Stock Tour Champion first burst onto the scene with two Xfinity Series wins in 2021.
• Kevin Harvick is retiring at the end of the season, opening up the seat at Stewart-Haas Racing. It was announced in February that Harvick will join the Fox Sports booth in 2024. Harvick has won 37 races for Stewart-Haas Racing and the 2014 Cup Series championship.
• Fans are generally excited to see Berry finally getting a chance at the Cup level. However, some have some concerns about how his performance will be.

If Rodney Childers stays, then Berry will have an elite level crew chief.

Gary is not a fan of the move, but mainly because of how SHR has been around Harvick this year,

I would not call 9 top 10s in 11 races a “Flat performance”.

Skid mentioned that Greg Biffle was 33 years old when he began his rookie season, just as Josh Berry will if this deal goes through.

That was indeed an early replacement for Kevin Harvick.

At least one 4-car fan will continue on with Josh Berry.

If this deal goes through, this would be very interesting to watch. Josh Berry has worked his way up the NASCAR ladder the hard way, and maybe he can be a contributor to turning some of SHR’s fortunes around.
