Stewart-Haas Racing is Shutting Down

The complete downfall of SHR happened a lot faster than people expected. After having won the regular season championship four years ago and the Xfinity Series championship last year, SHR has announced that this year will be its last in the sport. Eric Estepp is here to take you through everything that happened.

• Over the last few years, you can see that the goals of both of the owners of SHR were in directions leading away from NASCAR, one person in Formula One and the other in drag racing. There was no leadership left for SHR to thrive. Why do you think SHR closed its doors?
• I’m not sure we’ve ever seen a situation in NASCAR where a four-car team has completely shut down. This leaves a lot of drivers on the open market. Where do you think the SHR drivers will end up?
• No one loses more in this situation than the loyal SHR fans who have been there for a long time. This could make everyone fear for their own personal favorite team. What other teams do you think are at risk of the same thing happening?
