What’s Happening?

Frequent Cleetus McFarland content collaborator Squirrell McNutt’s ARCA Menards Series East debut broke a long-standing viewership record for NASCAR’s regional touring series.

  • The ARCA Menards Series East is often considered the highest regional level of NASCAR Racing, sharing the pedestal with the ARCA West series, one step below the main ARCA Series. McNutt, whose real name is George Siciliano, made his debut in the series this past weekend at Hickory Motor Speedway.
  • Per NASCAR, the race, which was simulcast on the subscription-based FloRacing and the free, live channel The NASCAR Channel, drew 175,000 total viewers. This broke the viewership record for a single race in the ARCA East, dating back to its days as the NASCAR K&N Pro Series East.
  • This race had several storylines, including a battle between Joe Gibbs Racing’s Max Reaves and race winner Spire Motorsport’s prospect Tristan McKee. Nonetheless, Siciliano, who was using this start to pursue an eventual start at Kansas and then Talladega in the main ARCA Series, was the clear headliner.
  • Despite his mid-pack finish seven laps down, Siciliano did not get approval to race at Kansas and had to add a second ARCA East date, this weekend at Rockingham, to continue his pursuit of racing at Talladega. His friend, Garrett Mitchell, better known as Cleetus McFarland, is also entered in this race, ahead of his NASCAR O’Reilly Auto Parts Series debut.
