In today’s playoff system, NASCAR drivers must race in every race to qualify for the playoffs. This week, we’ll see this talked about a lot because Kyle Larson ultimately decided to run a race in a competing series instead of the Coca-Cola 600. Brake Hard is here to explain to all of us whether NASCAR should give Kyle Larson a waiver.

  • If you look at the rulebook, it would make sense that Kyle Larson should not get a waiver. Unfortunately, this would hurt NASCAR in the eyes of the public and financially because Kyle Larson is one of their most popular drivers. Do you think if Kyle Larson isn’t allowed to compete in the playoffs, will the ratings see a Chase Elliott-like dip?
  • With Kyle Larson missing the Coca-Cola 600, it makes sense why the conversation of whether or not he should get a waiver is around, but if you look at the past, it seems like NASCAR gives out waivers for anything. Would it shock you if NASCAR doesn’t give a waiver to Kyle Larson?
  • Kyle Larson got more media attention this Memorial Day Weekend than any other NASCAR driver has brought in a long time. This is primarily because of his attempt to do the double but if NASCAR doesn’t give out a waiver for Kyle Larson, do you think will ever see another driver attempt to double again?

Do you think Kyle Larson will get a waiver? Should NASCAR change the rules so that this stops happening? Let Brake Hard know all of your thoughts and questions in the comment section.
