Ryan Truex and Sam Hunt Racing are teaming up for at least one start in the 2025 NASCAR Xfinity Series season. Truex, who is currently the reserve driver for Joe Gibbs Racing, is the defending Xfinity Series winner at Daytona.

- Truex will drive the No. 24 for SHR at Daytona. The team will field two cars, with Truex teaming up with SHR’s new full-time driver, Dean Thompson. The journeyman driver previously claimed that he had no plans for 2025 beyond his duties at JGR. However, that is quickly changing.
- Truex, in his role at JGR, is the reserve driver and spends his time prepping for each Cup and Xfinity Series race via a simulator. His preparation will allow him to fill in for any driver injured or unable to make a race.
- Truex, the younger brother of Toyota racing legend Maritn Truex Jr, made his name in recent years with JGR’s Xfinity Series team. This includes a breakthrough win at Dover in 2023 and a back-to-back winning season with JGR in 2024.
- Despite these performances on a part-time ride, Truex has not received sponsorship or the opportunity to go full-time. As he ages, his opportunities continue to slim. However, he continues to win.
