What’s Happening?

The 2026 NASCAR Rumor Mill is starting to heat up, as a new rumor names not only Dodge’s first NASCAR team as part of its return to NASCAR but the team’s driver as well. Here’s what we know so far.

The Rumor

According to the nascarrumornostalgia Instagram account, Dodge has found its first team in preparation for its rumored 2026 return to NASCAR.

The account, which has a mixed history of sharing rumors that turned out to be both true and false, claims that GMS Racing, once a staple of the Craftsman Truck Series, will return in 2025 with the RAM Trucks brand. GMS, a team closely associated with Chevrolet, closed after the 2023 season. The Daily Downforce has heard the same from reliable sources close to the team.

The team’s return would mark a resurgence for one of the series most storied franchises. During its eight-year run in the Truck Series, GMS Racing won 45 races and two Championships. The team also gave names like Justin Haley, Sheldon Creed, Zane Smith, and Rajah Caruth their first full-time rides in the Truck Series.

Furthermore, the poster claims that Spencer Gallagher, the son of Maury Gallagher, the former owner of GMS and former part-owner of Legacy Motor Club, will drive the truck. Gallagher, a former NASCAR Xfinity Series winner, has 60 career Truck Series starts and 120 total National Series starts but has not started a race since 2018.

How Realistic is This?

This rumor seems to have some weight to it. It comes hot off the heels of the news that Gallagher will return to ARCA Menards Series action this weekend at Rockingham. The 35-year-old will make this start with Chevrolet’s Sigma Performance Services team and will make subsequent starts at Talladega, Kansas, and Charlotte.

The only question left could center around why GMS would cut their long-term association with Chevrolet.

Well, since GMS’ closure, Spire Motorsports, who purchased Kyle Busch Motorsports, and McAnally-Hilgemann Racing, are considered the top teams representing the bowtie brand, and perhaps Dodge could make the team more prominent in its return.

Brakehard has even suggested that he has heard about this rumor, stating that there is more to come on X.

As with any rumor in the NASCAR industry, approach this one carefully. While some rumors come true, others contain only a small amount of the truth or are proven completely false.

Dodge’s Return to NASCAR

The potential return of Dodge and Ram to NASCAR is one of the sport’s most notable ongoing stories. Most reports suggest that Ram will return to the Truck Series in 2026. A return to the Truck Series is made much easier as it runs a spec Ilmor engine.

The brand will have to design a body style rather than an engine program for the series. However, Dodge will have much more to do for the Cup Series. Currently, a Dodge return to the top level of NASCAR is rumored for 2027 or 2028.

There is no confirmation from NASCAR nor Stellantis on a return to the sport, despite multiple reports from reliable sources.

Kyle Busch’s Controversial Last Lap Move | Hamlin Defends Herbst | NASCAR Power Rankings!

Denny Hamlin defends Riley Herbst, Brad Keselowski is furious, and Kyle Busch leaves everyone debating what it means to truly compete for a Daytona 500. The final lap at Daytona International Speedway sparked multiple completely different controversies that say a lot about modern superspeedway racing.

  • Was Riley Herbst’s late block just another split-second Daytona gamble, or did he truly cost Keselowski a legitimate shot at the win?
  • Is Denny Hamlin right to defend his driver publicly, even while admitting the wreck was on Herbst?
  • Did Kyle Busch make a savvy veteran points play by bailing out of the draft on the white flag?
  • Does backing out of the lead pack signal frustration, maybe even a bigger-picture mindset shift?

At superspeedways, instinct rules everything. Herbst reacted late, Keselowski paid the price, and Hamlin backed his guy. Meanwhile, Busch lifted from 25th, avoided the wreck, and gained ten spots, a move that looks smart in hindsight but could have backfired badly. In a new points-heavy format, are drivers thinking differently? We break down both moments, what they really mean, and whether everyone involved might actually have a point. Plus, early Cup Series power rankings to wrap it up.
