Richard Childress Racing to Appeal Win Revoking Disqualification

What’s Happening?

Richard Childress Racing will appeal their disqualification from this past weekend, which stripped Jesse Love of his Xfinity Series win at Rockingham. Love was the second race winner disqualified from a NASCAR National Series race in the 2025 season.

• News of Love’s disqualification broke late Saturday night, with NASCAR reasoning, “All mating surfaces between the truck trailing arm and the U-bolt saddle must be in complete contact with each other.”  
• As a result of this disqualification, the second-place finisher, Sammy Smith, was awarded the win, his first of the season. Love also lost the Xfinity Fastest Lap bonus point, which was awarded to Ryan Sieg of RSS Racing. Love’s win was the second of his season and his first on a short track prior to the disqualification.
• Love joins Parker Kligerman as the second winner DQ’d in 2025. Kligerman had his season-opening win at Daytona disqualified for not meeting post-race height requirements. Despite claiming that they had a case to make, the National Motorsports Appeals Panel ruled that NASCAR made a valid case for the disqualification.
• Prior to the 2025 NASCAR season, a winner had not been disqualified since the 2022 double disqualification at Pocono Raceway. Prior to that, the last disqualified race winner was Kyle Busch’s 2020 Xfinity Series win at Texas Motor Speedway.
