What’s Happening?
Adam Stern of Sports Business Journal reports that legendary NASCAR on Fox broadcaster Mike Joy plans to return to the Fox booth in 2025. Stern reports that Joy, whose contract expires after 2024, responded to a question about his future with a text message saying, “Looking forward to next year,” while Fox had no comment on Joy’s future.
- Mike Joy is one of the greatest NASCAR broadcasters of all time. A stalwart of NASCAR on Fox, Joy has been with the network since it first started broadcasting NASCAR in 2001. Before that, he broadcasted NASCAR races for MRN Radio, CBS, and TNN, getting his start with MRN in the 1970s.
- Joy’s comments come amidst Fox’s return to broadcasting NASCAR in the next media rights deal, which runs from 2025 through 2031. Fox will broadcast the first 14 races of the season, including the Clash, the Daytona 500, and the All-Star Race. This deal will extend Fox’s record as NASCAR’s longest-running consecutive media rights partner.
- Fans generally love Mike Joy and hope he continues broadcasting NASCAR for years to come. His overall love of the sport and wealth of knowledge make him enjoyable to listen to every week.
