NASCAR announced on Monday that they will implement an In-Season Tournament for a $1 million grand prize starting in 2025. The tournament will feature 32 drivers in a single elimination bracket during the 5 races aired on TNT during the summer.

  • The tournament will be a single-elimination bracket-style head-to-head tournament featuring 32 drivers across 5 races. Bob Pockrass reports that Atlanta could be the opening race of the tournament in the summer.
  • Denny Hamlin originally came up with the concept of an in-season tournament during the 2023 season. He even said that Marcus Smith expressed interest in the concept and that interest went through other NASCAR executives.
  • Fans are very intrigued by this news. Most of them credit Denny Hamlin for the original concept, and they are excited to see how it does.
