What’s Happening?

One of NASCAR’s newest Hall of Fame Members, Carl Edwards, is making his long-awaited return to NASCAR this season. However, Edwards is not getting behind the wheel but rather the desk as a pre-and post-race show analyst for Amazon Prime Video’s impending NASCAR coverage.

  • Edwards will join Prime Video as an analyst for its five-race coverage, a role that other networks have been rumored to recruit him for since his abrupt retirement. Edwards told Jordan Bianchi of The Athletic that it took Prime Video executives coming to his home in Missouri to meet with him to accept the job.
  • All around, Edwards seems excited to take on a new life in NASCAR. He also joins a stacked lineup of talent for Prime Video’s short coverage of NASCAR. The booth for Prime Video consists of play-by-play talent Adam Alexander alongside analysts Dale Earnhardt Jr. and Steve Letarte. Edwards will specifically join Corey LaJoie and Danielle Trotta as hosts of Prime Video’s pre- and post-race show.
  • Since his shocking retirement at the end of the 2016 season, Edwards has laid low to focus on his family. However, he made his first return for NASCAR’s 75th Anniversary celebration at Darlington in 2023 and, finally, addressed the community as part of his induction into the NASCAR Hall of Fame this February.
  • Prior to his retirement, Edwards strung together one of the most impressive starts to a NASCAR career. He won 16 races in his first four full-time NASCAR Cup Series seasons with Roush Fenway Racing. However, Edwards fell short of a Championship multiple times throughout his career, including his final season.
