What’s Happening?
Tuesday night, Groovy Hollow took center stage in the iRacing community. This yearly race has two primary contests throughout the event. Here are your Groovy Hollow 4 winners.
The Grooviest Paint Scheme Contest
The first contest of the weekend saw the fans vote for the best paint scheme of the 29 initial entrants. With the Halloween nature of the paint schemes, this contest is always a close competition.
This year, NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series regular Thad Moffit took home the win. His Tastyduck.com No. 46 featured a yellow-to-blue design with the iconic Petty Family font for his number.
Groovy Hollow 4
This year’s 150-lap race at Groovy Hollow Raceway saw one driver run away with the victory. That wasn’t, however, for lack of trying, as several drivers took a shot at the including several during a late caution with 18 to go.
However, it was Larry Pace and his No. 86 Motorbooks NASCAR Maverick’s Mustang who took home a dominating win, ending a back-to-back winning streak from David Schildhouse. In a post-race interview, Pace was relieved that his track position based strategy paid off.
“I knew track position was going to be very important because it’s super hard to pass at Iowa as we get deep into the run,” Pace said. “So I kind of made hay while the sun was shining.”
Thanks to all the sponsors who helped put on Groovy Hollow 4, and thank you for watching. Together, we raised over $2000 for Extra Life and donated over $100 diecast to Toys for Tots.
