In a recent interview, reigning NASCAR Cup Series Champion Joey Logano claims that drivers and pit crews are “flirting with disaster” when pitting at Homestead-Miami Speedway.
🗣️ "I don't know what their plans are as far as renovations down there, but I would put that as the No. 1 priority."@joeylogano says "we are flirting with disaster" with how tight @HomesteadMiami pit road is and would like to see some changes.

- When reflecting on his pit-road run-in with Ford teammate Josh Berry during this past Sunday’s Straight Talk Wireless 400, three-time NASCAR Cup Series Champion Joey Logano expressed concerns about the width of Homestead-Miami Speedway’s pit road.
- While no crew members were injured when Berry and Logano went four wide exiting their pit stalls, Logano fears that the narrow width presents a real danger to crew members. As Logano told SiriusXM NASCAR Radio, “We are flirting with it. We are flirting with disaster on that pit road, and, yeah, nobody wants to see that at all, right?”
- While pit road may look wide, it quickly congests when stopping under caution, with roughly 36 to 40 cars and five crew members running around each of them frantically. When cars exit stalls to maintain or gain position, much like Berry and Logano did, this space becomes all the more confined.
- Logano stated that fixing the narrow width of the track’s pit road should be a “number one priority” for NASCAR when renovating the facility. His suggestion to fix this issue is to widen pit road by at least ten feet. “If they’re already doing a lot of work, if they can move or make Pit Road 10 feet wider, it would be a world of difference.”
- Drivers and crews will not have to face Homestead’s pit road again this season, as the track has one race date a year. However, if the season finale moves to Homestead from Phoenix in 2026, as rumored, they could be in these tight confines under Championship implications next season.
