Best part was @LarryMac28 confirming he will be back at the track this year for his role as analyst on Fox.
Where he belongs 💪🏼
McReynolds confirmed this to Alan Cavanna of SiriusXM NASCAR Radio on Friday afternoon. McReynolds last served as a full-time on-site Crew Chief analyst for FOX in 2015. Since then, McReynolds has made sporadic appearances at the track for FOX.
Since 2016, his remote role has been similar to that of a rules experts on NFL or NBA broadcasts, with McReynolds chiming in throughout the race to give his take or insights on what’s happening on track or in the pits.
While he will be at the track, it is unclear if he will be back in a lap-by-lap role for FOX. If he is, McReynolds will bring the Crew Chief Perspective back to the booth for FOX. Of NASCAR’s four broadcast partners, FOX is the only one without a lap-by-lap Crew Chief Analyst. The other Crew Chief Analyst is Steve Letarte who serve’s that role for NBC, Prime Video, and TNT Sports.
Early on this off season, there was a rumor that McReynolds might not return to FOX in 2024. However, his return to the track could be due to FOX’s smaller schedule, which drops from 19 races in 2024 to 15 in 2025.

Larry Mac’s Legacy in NASCAR
McReynolds’ perspective as a former Crew Chief would be valuable to the FOX broadcast.
Prior to his work on the media side of NASCAR, which he began full-time in 2001, McReynolds was a legend of the pit box, scoring 23 wins and two Daytona 500s.
McReynolds was an original member of the FOX booth in 2001 alongside Mike Joy and Darrell Waltrip. As of press time, Joy is the only remaining member of that original booth still broadcasting lap-by-lap coverage.
Whether McReynolds is back in the booth or just continuing his role on-site, NASCAR fans will be happy to see America’s Crew Chief at the track in 2025.
