What’s Happening?
Kyle Larson was the main point of conversation amongst NASCAR fans on social media regarding a quote from Kevin Harvick’s “Happy Hour” podcast. When asked by Kevin Harvick if there is anything that motivates him about competing on the lower series, he got the following answer:
“Not really in the Truck Series… but in Xfinity, I want to embarrass them… I want to embarrass NASCAR a little bit because they don’t let the Cup guys run anymore… The kids probably think they are in a good spot and don’t know where the bar is really at, so I like to go run the Xfinity races and get 10-second leads to let them realize there is a lot of room to improve, and I think it’s better for our sport, so when the young guys go compete with the Cup guys, they are better suited once they get there. I want to smash the field when I go around Xfinity, that’s motivating for me for sure.” – Kyle Larson

Kyle Larson started from the pole and led 277 of 300 laps on the Xfinity Series race last Saturday, the second most dominant performance at Bristol in its history. Only 12 cars finished on the lead lap. At one point during the race, Larson had a 9-second lead over second-place runner Justin Allgaier, which is about 3/4 of a lap at Bristol Motor Speedway. After that, Larson also won the Cup Series race on Sunday, leading 410 of the 500 laps for his second straight win at the racetrack. At 32 years old, the 2021 Cup Series champion is a 31-time Cup winner, which ranks him 30th all-time, 5th among active drivers.
Larson also revealed he will be in two events during the Cup Series’s Easter break weekend: Knoxville in Sprint Cars on Friday and Saturday and WrestleMania in Las Vegas on Sunday.
