Kyle Lasron crashed for the second time in his second pursuit of the Indianapolis 500. This crash comes one day before the first qualifying session for the 109th Indianapolis 500.

This crash came during the early parts of Larson’s first run of the day. Entering turn three, Larson’s car grabbed the inside of the turn and quickly spun around, careening nose-first into the outside wall. The 32-year-old got out of his No. 17 Arrow McLaren shortly after the accident and was released from the care center.
After the accident, Larson told FS1, “I’m not too worried about it. I think we’ll be fine. Adjust on it a little bit. Track conditions will be a little better tomorrow, and we’ll still be fast.”
Today was a crucial day in the week leading up to the Indianapolis 500. The fourth practice session, also known as ‘Fast Friday,’ is the final true practice session before the two-day qualifying process. On Fast Friday, cars receive a turbocharger boost to find their qualifying speed.

This marks the current NASCAR Cup Series points leader’s second crash during pre-race festivities for the 109th Indianapolis 500, though this one was much harder than his first. Larson’s first crash came during an April 24 open test session. Larson went high on the exit of turn one, hitting the outside wall. He then slid back onto the track and into the outside wall in turn two.
After his first crash, Larson told the Indianapolis Motor Speedway Radio Network, “Honestly, I’m happy to crash my first IndyCar and live through it.” He drew comparisons between the two crashes today, saying, “At least we’ve found both ends of the spectrum.”
On-track action for the first day of Indianapolis 500 qualifying kicks off tomorrow at 8:30 a.m. on FS2, with qualifying starting at 11 a.m. EST on FS1.
