During the latest episode of Door, Bumper, Clear, airing live from JRM fan day, it was revealed that Kyle Busch is likely to return to Richard Childress Racing for the 2026 season.
This news comes from DBC’s special guest, NASCAR insider Jordan Bianchi of The Athletic. During his chat with DBC, Bianchi claims that RCR Team President Mike Verlander told him that in 2026, “I don’t see Kyle racing anywhere else.”
Busch is in the final year of his contract, which includes an option. Bianchi went on to say that he believes RCR will not only pick up Busch’s option but perhaps extend his contract. “I actually think that Kyle’s future with RCR is probably going to go beyond just another year and past 2026,” Bianchi said.
This comes one day after the NASCAR media availability schedule for Charlotte revealed that RCR has an announcement scheduled for Saturday at 10:45 a.m. EST. While it is unclear what this announcement is, it could be related to Busch or RCR’s 2026 lineup as a whole.
Entering this season, the major conversation surrounding Busch was whether the two-time NASCAR Cup Series Champion would return to RCR. Though he had success early on with the team, the driver failed to qualify for the 2024 playoffs and is in the midst of a career-long 69-race losing streak.
Most have concluded that any other team Busch could go to would be no better, if not worse, than RCR. Bianchi shared this sentiment on DBC, saying, “There isn’t really any viable options for Kyle Bush to go anywhere right now. Look at the big teams. They’ve kind of had their spots already signed up for next year.”
