What’s Happening?

NASCAR legend Kevin Harvick joined the discussion surrounding Kyle Busch and Richard Childress Racing’s tough start to 2026 during the latest episode of his podcast.

NASCAR Cup Series veteran Kyle Busch has found himself at the center of conversation for all the wrong reasons.

After a bad start to the 2026 season, Busch and Richard Childress Racing are facing questions from both fans and drivers. In fact, during an episode of his podcast last week, Busch’s former long-time teammate, Denny Hamlin, commented on the dire state of the No. 8 team.

Busch responded to these comments in a now-infamous interview at Kansas Speedway, which drew even more eyes to the state of the former champion and his team.

During the latest episode of Kevin Harvick’s Happy Hour, Harvick, who has seen his fair share of on-track slumps at RCR, laid out the facts about the No. 8 team.

Harvick agreed with what Hamlin said, not only that things are not good for the team, but also saying that he wasn’t looking forward to seeing Busch winning again.

“We want to see Kyle Busch win. Kyle Busch winning is good for the sport. Kyle Busch isn’t going to win right now, because the cars are not running good.” — Kevin Harvick

Though that might not happen anytime soon, Harvick thinks it’s still up to the future Hall of Famer to get things back on track, saying that Childress will listen and make changes to get things back on track.

“Right now, we’re going to see if Kyle’s leadership skills are there to be the leader of RCR, to help get the cars back to where they need to be,” Harvick said. “Richard Childress is going to ask, ‘What do we do? Hey, what do you think?’ And not [be] scared to make changes.”

Busch’s Week so Far

Busch’s comments have dominated most Cup Series discussions this week. Of course, being a future Hall of Famer and on a contract year doesn’t help either.

On Action’s Detrimental, Hamlin did not focus a large portion of time on Busch this week, instead (again) adding at the end of the episode that he wants to see his friend winning, saying that he is “rooting” for the No. 8.

Discussions of Busch even reached the Dale Jr Download, where Dale Earnhardt Jr speculated that while Busch is struggling, he could find a home at a competitive team, with the fellow former No. 8 driver pointing to Spire as his prediction for Busch’s landing spot for 2027.
