23XI Racing announced on Wednesday that sports car ace Kamui Kobayashi will suit up for the team once again at COTA. He will race in a third 23XI Racing car alongside Tyler Reddick and Bubba Wallace. Kobayashi made one Cup Series start for the team in 2023, finishing 33rd at the Indianapolis Road Course.
- Kobayashi will not be the only road course ringer trying his hand at NASCAR at COTA. Shane Van Gisbergen will race in the Kaulig Racing #16 car, and Matt Jaskol has an opportunity to race for MBM Motorsports should he find sponsorship.
- Kobayashi is an incredibly accomplished road racer. After 4 seasons in Formula One featuring one Podium finish in 2012, he has enjoyed an illustrious career in the World Endurance Championship for Toyota Gazoo Racing. He’s won two drivers Championships and the 2021 24 Hours of Le Mans. He also took home two consecutive Rolex 24 at Daytona victories in 2019 and 2020.
- Fans are excited to see another international motorsports superstar competing in the NASCAR Cup Series. It’s always fun to see drivers like Kobayashi try their hand at stock cars.
