IROC Returns This Summer

What’s Happening?

Ray Evernham is officially bringing back IROC. The racing series announced on Friday that it will return at Lime Rock Park on July 19th and 20th featuring “Original” IROC drivers and cars that competed in the series. The announcement also said that there would be a “Static display” alongside an “On-track racing exhibition”.

• No specifics regarding drivers, the race format, or even broadcasting were given in the announcement. However, it seems that drivers who raced in IROC in the past are candidates to return.
• Ray Evernham and Rob Kauffman bought IROC this offseason with the intention of bringing it back. He was a founding member of the Superstar Racing Experience (SRX), a spiritual successor to IROC, but, he left the series after one season.
• Fans are excited to see IROC returning. With the SRX having an uncertain future, an “All-Star Series” could work in modern motorsports.
