Texas Motor Speedway Weather History
Texas Motor Speedway has had its’ fair share of weather mishaps in its quarter of a century on the NASCAR calendar. A rain delay in 2016 at the track lasted almost six hours as the old surface took forever to dry up. This forced SMI to repave the track, which they would also reconfigure to the layout we have today.
However, the most infamous weather delay in Texas came in 2020 when persistent mist delayed the race from Sunday afternoon all the way to Wednesday evening. That combined with the pandemic schedule meant that NASCAR’s top division ran on every day of the week in 2020. Kyle Busch took home his only win of the season that day.
Texas Motor Speedway has had to deal with a bunch of crazy weather during its time on the schedule. Sunday may be another crazy weather day.
