What’s Happening?

Actor turned NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series rookie Frankie Muniz will miss this weekend’s race at Darlington Raceway following an at-home accident that resulted in a broken wrist.

  • In a statement on his X account, Muniz explained that he fell off a ladder while changing batteries in a security camera at his home. Reamue Brothers Racing has announced that Mason Maggio will be behind the wheel of the No. 33 Truck this weekend.
  • As of presstime, there is no clear timeline for Muniz’s return to action. In his post, the 39-year-old stated that it will likely be a “6-8 week recovery,” which sets a timeframe between the Oct. 17 race at Talladega and the Oct. 24 race at Martinsville.
  • Muniz is in his first full-time season in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series with RBR. He currently sits 24th in points, last in Rookie of the Year standings, and has finished no better than 10th. Despite these surface-level stats, Muniz has shown speed at times, boasting a +2.3 improvement on his average finishing position compared to average starting position.
  • Muniz, known for his roles in films like Agent Cody Banks and the 2000 sitcom Malcolm in the Middle, made his transition to stock cars in 2023, competing full-time in the ARCA Menards Series. While he did not compete full-time in 2024, he used that season as a launch pad to full-time Truck Series competition, making starts in both the Truck and Xfinity Series.
