Nashville Notes: Denny Hamlin has one top-five finish and two top-10s in three NASCAR Cup Series starts at Nashville Superspeedway. The FedEx Racing driver has been a strong contender the past two years at the 1.33-mile tri-oval. In 2022, he won the pole, led a race-high 114 laps and finished sixth. Last season, he started eighth, led 81 laps and won stage two on the way to a third-place finish.

New Hampshire Recap: The No. 11 team finished 24th in last Sunday’s race at New Hampshire Motor Speedway. Hamlin started 14th after rain canceled qualifying. He used stage one to work his way into the top 10 and he wound up seventh when the segment concluded on lap 70. Hamlin grabbed his fourth stage win of the season by winning the second segment. Rain delayed the race with Hamlin scored third during the final stage. NASCAR elected to restart on rain tires with 75 laps to go and Hamlin dropped to a 24th-place finish.

Conquering the Concrete: Hamlin owns six NASCAR Cup Series victories on concrete tracks – four at Bristol Motor Speedway and two at Dover Motor Speedway. The FedEx Racing team has won the last three races on concrete tracks dating back to last September at Bristol. Earlier this season, Hamlin won again on the concrete at Bristol in March and at Dover in April.

Front Runner: Hamlin leads the Cup Series in multiple statistical categories according to Loop Data provided by NASCAR. He is currently the best in the series in green flag speed, fastest on restarts, fastest drivers late in a run, and laps in the top 15. Through 18 races, Hamlin has spent 245 more laps in the top 15 than the next closest competitor.

History of the 11: Throughout NASCAR history, the No. 11 has visited victory lane more than any other car number. Hamlin’s win at Dover Motor Speedway was the 234th time a No. 11 car has won in the Cup Series. For Hamlin, his 54 victories driving the No. 11 are only one behind NASCAR Hall of Famer Cale Yarborough for most on the illustrious list of drivers who have wheeled a No. 11 car to victory lane. That list includes Bobby Allison (3 wins), Mario Andretti (1 win), Buddy Baker (2 wins), Geoffrey Bodine (4 wins), Bill Elliott (6 wins), A.J. Foyt (1 win), Denny Hamlin (54 wins), Ned Jarrett (49 wins), Junior Johnson (11 wins), Parnelli Jones (1 win), Terry Labonte (4 wins), Darrell Waltrip (43 wins), and Cale Yarborough (55 wins).

Hamlin Conversation – Nashville

What do you expect going to Nashville Superspeedway this weekend?

“I’m optimistic about Nashville. I feel like we have had one of, if not, the best cars there for the last few years with the Next Gen. It’s a track I have a lot of confidence we can run up front and get a good finish. We’re running really well, just different things the past few weeks have screwed us up the past few weeks. We need a mistake-free day and I feel like we are more than capable of doing that in Nashville.”
