What’s Happening?
With the release of the F1 movie, everyone is talking about Days of Thunder. This list now includes Tom Cruise.
I always love the fun and adrenaline of a racing film. Today marks two racing milestones for my friend Jerry Bruckheimer, the release of F1 and the 35 year anniversary to the day of our collaboration with the great Tony Scott on Days of Thunder.

- Friday afternoon, Cruise, who starred as the bold and brash Cole Trickle in the 1990 film directed by Tony Scott, posted a thread of photos on X. This thread consisted of behind-the-scenes photos of Cruise and the cast of Days of Thunder.
- With the thread, Cruise posted, “Today marks two racing milestones for my friend Jerry Bruckheimer, the release of F1 and the 35 year anniversary to the day of our collaboration with the great Tony Scott on Days of Thunder.”
- While this post was nostalgic, the hot topic of conversation surrounding Days of Thunder is whether or not a sequel will be made. It seems like everyone from Cruise to F1 Director Joseph Kosinski and even NASCAR Commissioner Steve Phelps is talking about Days of Thunder.
- While it is unknown if they will make a sequel to the film, with Phelps telling CNBC, “I’m not suggesting this is where we’re going,” NASCAR fans are deadset on the sport returning to the big screen in a serious tone, rather than movies like Talladega Nights and Logan Lucky.
