- Despite Suarez’s Trackhouse Racing teammates Ross Chastain and Shane van Gisbergen getting part-time starts in the No. 9, fans wondered why Suarez was not included in the car’s initial plans. However, a long-running rumor suggested the 33-year-old could get his start in his home race at Mexico City.
- With this now confirmed, the Jun. 14 race at Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez will mark the former Xfinity Series champion’s first race in the series since Chicago last summer with DGM Racing. In 88 career starts, Suarez has three Xfinity Series wins and an average finish of 11.3.
- This year, JRM transitioned its legendary No. 9 car into a part-time entry, with starts from the three Trackhouse Racing drivers and Connor Mosack. So far, Chastain is the only driver to make starts in the car, finishing eighth at Circuit of the Americas and fourth at Darlington.
- This upcoming race weekend marks the NASCAR Xfinity Series’ return to AHR, where it previously hosted races from 2005 to 2008. Suarez, a native of Monterrey, Mexico, is the only Mexican driver in the NASCAR Cup Series.
