The Accusations

The rumors started swirling on Reddit when CobblerSadd6055 claimed he knew what happened between Dale Earnhardt Jr. and NBC. CobblerSadd6055 said that NBC wanted the broadcast team to call races remotely and that NBC producers and Earnhardt Jr. both were at odds over Earnhardt Jr. taking his attention away from TV monitors while broadcasting.

What likely gave these rumors merit in the sight of the public was Earnhardt Jr.’s recent comments on his podcast. In an episode in mid-February, he disclosed that he had two dealbreakers for his next broadcasting job. He wants to call races at the track, and he wants to be able to react to events happening off the screen.

Earnhardt Jr.’s response

Dale Earnhardt Jr. quickly set the record straight on Twitter, saying the rumors were “All untrue”. He also gave high praise to NBC and those who work there, emphasizing that there was no ill-will between him and NBC.

Well, that’s that. A quick response from Dale Earnhardt Jr. shows that he harbors no animosity towards NBC. It seems the split was not personal, and it was strictly business, which is the ideal scenario for all involved.
