What’s Happening?
Connor Zilisch, driver of the No. 88 JR Motorsports Chevrolet, will miss this weekend’s NASCAR Xfinity Series race at Texas Motor Speedway due to injuries sustained in a last-lap crash at Talladega. The incident occurred on the backstretch when Zilisch was turned by Jesse Love, sending the 18-year-old rookie into a hard head-on collision. JR Motorsports confirmed that Zilisch suffered a lower-back injury in the wreck.

With the Xfinity Series entering a two-week break following Texas, Zilisch will have additional recovery time before the next race, at Charlotte Motor Speedway on May 24th. The young driver is widely considered one of NASCAR’s most promising prospects. He has two career wins in 15 starts, including a win from the pole in his Xfinity Series debut at Watkins Glen in 2024.
