What’s Happening?

NASCAR legend Tony Stewart is getting back behind the wheel this February with Kaulig Racing for his first NASCAR race since 2016.

  • Stewart and Kaulig Racing announced his return on Tuesday morning in a post on social media. The 54-year-old NASCAR Hall of Famer will drive the team’s No. 25 Ram truck in the season-opening NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series race at Daytona International Speedway.
  • The No. 25 truck is an open truck in Kaulig’s five-truck lineup that will field drivers from Kaulig’s “free agent driver program” throughout the 2026 season. This program is just one of many ways that Ram Trucks is ushering in its return to NASCAR with Kaulig Racing.
  • When the free agent driver program truck was first introduced, Stewart was immediately speculated as a potential driver by fans due to his NHRA team that enters Ram’s fellow Stellantis-owned manufacturer, Dodge. Though Kaulig Racing CEO Chris Rice downplayed these rumors, they have persisted up until this announcement.
  • This race will mark Stewart’s first NASCAR National Series race since 2016 and his first NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series race since 2005. Stewart, a two-time winner in the Truck Series, has yet to race in the Series at Daytona, despite being an 11-time winner in the other NASCAR National Series at the 2.5-mile superspeedway.
