Confirmed: Amazon’s New Kyle Larson Documentary

What’s Happening?

One of NASCAR’s newest broadcast partners, Amazon Prime Video, announced Tuesday that it will not only be the presenting sponsor of Kyle Larson’s 2025 attempt at the “Double,” but the streaming service is slated to release a documentary in 2026 covering the driver’s outing.

• Kyle Larson will enter the NTT IndyCar Series Indianapolis 500 with McLaren and the Coca-Cola 600 for a second straight season this year. This is Larson’s second attempt at the 1100 miles of single-day open-wheel and stock car racing.
• Prime Video also announced a feature-length documentary on this effort that is set to release in 2026. This documentary has already been in the works, as the press release from HMS states, “Filming for the untitled project began in October 2023 and will encompass the driver’s pursuits in both 2024 and 2025.”
• This partnership is a sign of a continuing relationship with Prime Video and Hendrick Motorsports. The streaming service will sponsor the HMS No. 9 of Chase Elliott in three races this spring. This sponsorship will promote Prime Video’s upcoming five-race slate of exclusive NASCAR Cup Series races.
• The Charlotte Indy Double is unlike anything else in racing. Only a handful of racing legends have attempted to win or even finish both grueling races on the same day. From 1994 to 2004, four drivers made nine attempts at the double; since 2004, only two drivers, Larson and Kurt Busch, have entered both races.
• Of these drivers, Tony Stewart’s 2001 outing had the lowest combined finish, in which Stewart finished sixth at Indianapolis and third at Charlotte. Larson did not complete the double last season, as after finishing 18th in a rain-delayed Indianapolis 500, another storm prevented him from getting behind the wheel of his No. 5.
