Cody Ware Reinstated by NASCAR

What’s Happening?

NASCAR announced on Tuesday that Cody Ware has been reinstated from his indefinite suspension. He was suspended in April after being arrested in North Carolina for felony “assault by strangulation — inflict serious injury” and misdemeanor “assault on a female.” The charges were recently dropped.

You Need to Know:

• Cody Ware was racing full-time for Rick Ware Racing before his arrest. In 91 career Cup Series races, he has only one career top-10 finish. He also has experience running in IndyCar and IMSA for the team.
• With Rick Ware Racing’s second car still open for 2024, Cody becomes a potential candidate for that car. Justin Haley joined the team for the 2023 season on a multi-year deal.
• Many fans were not particularly happy to see Ware being reinstated. Given his poor performance in the Cup Series, many fans are not interested in him racing in NASCAR again. Some joked about his NASCAR career, and others talked about where he could go in 2024.
