Adam Stern reported the TV ratings for this weekends Coca-Cola 600, and they were about as good as NASCAR could have hoped for on a Monday.

What’s Happening?

Adam Stern released the Coca-Cola 600 TV Ratings on Wednesday night, and they were pretty solid. Despite the switch to a Monday afternoon/evening race from the schedule Sunday evening/night race, FOX still pulled in 3.399 million viewers. This was down only 0.43 million viewers from last years race which was on a Sunday.

  • This was the highest viewership NASCAR has gotten since Talladega back in April. That was also the last race that was broadcast on FOX rather than the FS1 cable channel.
  • Despite the move to Monday, NASCAR still had nearly 2 million more viewers than the Formula 1 Monaco Grand Prix, but the Indianapolis 500 still beat NASCAR by around 1.5 million viewers. However, it is also worth noting that NASCAR’s biggest race, the Daytona 500, pulled in 8.1 million viewers, which almost doubled the Indy 500 and had almost 8x the amount of viewers as Monaco.
  • NASCAR can likely breathe a sigh of relief after this weekend because moving their second biggest race to Monday could have been a nightmare for ratings. Fans were also excited to see the Monday TV ratings shake out the way they did.

In the Stands

With Chase Elliot gone, that is very likely.

Stout indeed Graham.

Very good viewership for a Monday race indeed.

The crowd was about as good as the viewership.

Monday + Rain delay = Decent Ratings?

From the Pressbox

Could NASCAR run a Monday night race in the future?

All things considered, NASCAR should be happy with how this weekend went. With the forecast on Sunday and the rain delay on Monday, it could have easily been a significant ratings failure. Thankfully for NASCAR, the ratings still turned out okay.
