What’s Happening?

Another podcast appearance and another trip to an iconic NASCAR track are added to Garrett Mitchell’s ARCA schedule. On this week’s episode of Stacking Pennies with Corey LaJoie, Mitchell, better known as Cleetus McFarland, confirmed he will race in the ARCA Menards Series race at Bristol this fall.

  • Mitchell appeared on the podcast partially to promote LaJoie’s upcoming entry in the Freedom 500 at the Freedom Factory. This race, at Mitchell’s short track in Flordia, the Freedom Factory, exclusively consists of Ford Crown Victorias and consistently sees racing legends and current pros partake in the event.
  • Of course, during the interview, Mitchell’s recent and upcoming forays into stock car racing came up. Lajoie’s co-host, Ryan “Skip” Flores, asked Mitchell if he had any other races on his schedule; Mitchell responded, “I’m racing Dega (Talladega), and then I’m racing Bristol.”
  • Mitchell already confirmed his entry in the Apr. 26 ARCA race at Talladega with Rette Jones Racing’s No. 30 on the Feb. 19 episode of the Dale Jr Download. However, the 29-year-old had yet to announce his entry in the Sept. 11 Bristol race prior to this episode of Staking Pennies.
  • Mitchell expanded on his long-term goal of racing in the Daytona 500 one day, telling LaJoie, “I’m just gonna run ARCA until I feel ready to go run Xfinity. And then when I feel ready to run Cup, I’m gonna run Cup.”
  • Mitchell, who has 4.23M subscribers on YouTube, made his ARCA debut at Daytona this February with RJR. Unfortunately, Mitchell’s day ended early after he was collected in a lap 12 accident.
