According to Tia Ewing of FOX 32 Chicago, two thieves stole two carts at the construction site of the Chicago Street Course track. Ewing reports that security has been working at the site, so there is not any information as to how the thieves broke in.
- Construction on the temporary Chicago Street Course was started earlier this month. For now, it is primarily building grandstands, but it will include specific street closures later down the line.
- This comes amidst significant scrutiny surrounding this race from government officials to fans to residents. Most of the scrutiny has revolved around local impact, but some concerns have been risen amongst fans about the safety of the event for spectators.
- Fans on social media are quite concerned about this, and many local residents see this as a concerning development. Some are more pessimistic, and are saying this was something that should have been expected.
