What’s Happening?

Spire Motorsport driver Carson Hocevar will drive the Kaulig Racing No. 11 during this weekend’s NASCAR Xfinity Series race at Iowa Speedway.

  • Hocevar is filling in for Josh Williams, who was released from his contract with Kaulig Wednesday morning. Most importantly, Hocevar will not be the permanent driver of the No. 11 for the rest of the season, as Kaulig has announced that a rotation of drivers will pilot the car.
  • Kaulig did not give an exact reason for William’s release; however, it could be chalked up to performance issues. Prior to his release, Williams, in his second season with the team, had statistically fallen behind his two rookie teammates, Christian Eckes and Daniel Dye, who are off to disappointing starts of their own.
  • While Williams is a NASCAR Xfinity Series veteran, Hocevar, the reigning NASCAR Cup Series Rookie of the Year, is the exact opposite. After three full-time seasons in the Truck Series, Hocevar jumped to Cup Series action in 2024, skipping the Xfinity Series almost entirely.
  • This leaves Hocevar with a small sample size of experience in the series, including five starts in 2023 and one earlier this season with SS Greenlight Racing at COTA. In his six career starts, Hocevar has never raced at Iowa and has the best career finish of sixth at Darlington in 2023.
