What’s Happening?
Defending Champ Joey Logano appeared to wreck Kyle Busch early on in the Busch Clash
You need to know:
- Richard Childress was the first on the radio to cast aspersions in the direction of the 22. Busch followed it up post race, saying “He’s got another one coming…”
- Logano accepted the blame for the contact that sent the 8 to the rear of the 27-car field.
- The 2 racers were guest commentators in the Fox Sports booth just moments before hitting the track for the main event in the LA Clash and are usually racing aggressively at the front of the field. This is the first major conflict on track for 2023.
See what KFB had to say on SirisusXM NASCAR the morning after:
💭 "Don't even talk to me if you're going to be that kind of a**hole on the racetrack." 😳 #NASCAR

Logano told Bob Pockrass, “I screwed up. It was my mistake… Thankfully he was fast enough to get all the way back up there. I felt pretty bad…”

Kyle said car owner Richard Childress came on the radio after the incident. “Richard is prone to key up every now and then.” Busch ultimately said he felt it was more important to gain track position than seek revenge.

Update as of 2/7
Logano reiterated that the contact was his fault and even went further about his driving… personality…
🔉 "Am I sorry? Yes, I am. Am I two-faced? Yes, I am. Do I think anything's wrong with that? No, I don't."

🗣️ @joeylogano responds to @KyleBusch calling him out:
💭 "In Kyle's words, I'm not a complete a-hole all the time. That's better than being an a-hole 100% of the time." pic.twitter.com/2ggyAPega0
In the Stands:
On Twitter @ZaxCal put the perfect commentary on the incident. Regardless of the on track cause of the contact, a Kyle Busch vs Joey Logano rivalry is indeed what we need this year.

HendrickFan9 gave some solid commentary on the post-race banter:

From the Pressbox:
SiriusXM’s Claire B Lang’s question to Busch prompted his “don’t even talk to me” reply. She said days later that she was pleased that KFB replied with such candor. She also noted that Joey did not back down from the comments or the accountability.
I didn't expect @KyleBusch to answer my question on Post Race Show the way he did – Glad he answered honestly. But Joey responded straight on too #TMDNASCAR – Keeps us tuned in and covering & keeps me wanting to keep asking the tough questions. #NeverDullMoment @SiriusXMNASCAR https://t.co/cOQPdzhYUr
