What’s Happening?

On Friday, Richard Childress Racing announced that Xfinity Series star Austin Hill would make 4 Cup Series starts in the No. 33 car sponsored by United Rentals. The full schedule was not revealed, but, Hill’s first race will be Texas Motor Speedway on April 14th. This comes after a social media post leaked a No. 33 Cup Series car with a United Rentals paint scheme at the RCR shop.

  • Austin Hill has won 8 Xfinity Series races since he joined the team in 2022, including back-to-back wins to start the 2024 season. Six of his wins have come on superspeedways, so, those tracks are ones to watch for Hill to make his other starts. He has 6 career Cup Series starts, 5 for Beard Motorsports and 1 for RCR. His two intermediate track starts came at Michigan in 2022 with RCR (18th) and 2023 with Beard Motorsports (28th)
  • This will be the first race for the RCR No. 33 car this season. This car has been exclusively a part-time or open entry since Clint Bowyer left following the 2011 season. Most recently, RCR used the number to field a car for Brodie Kostecki at Indianapolis in 2023
  • Fans are excited to see what Austin Hill can do in the Cup Series. Will he find a way to better his other Cup Series starts?
