David Gilliland returns to Truck Series competition this weekend at Charlotte driving the No. 1 car for TRICON Garage.

What’s Happening?

David Gilliland will drive once again this Saturday at Charlotte Motor Speedway. The co-owner of TRICON Garage is running his first career National Touring Series race since the 2021 Truck Series race at Darlington.

  • David Gilliland became a Truck Series team owner in 2017, and has been a fairly successful team owner. He has won five races as a team owner, most recently at Martinsville this spring with Corey Heim.
  • Gilliland is a former full-time Cup Series driver. He won the pole for the Daytona 500 in 2007 and has a career best finish of second which came at Sonoma in 2008 and Talladega in 2013. His only National Touring Series win came in 2006 in the Xfinity Series at Kentucky Speedway.
  • Fans are excited to see Gilliland come back to the race track. It is a one-off appearance as of right now.
